Stretch Goals Released!

Since the are a few of you who said that you would support stretch goals, I have setup the projects in the shop (http://shop.omnikraft.net/category/672328)!  I've thought of a few larger projects to start with.  If you click on the project, I have each one documented with what the project is about, what the goal is, how much support there is currently for the goal and the estimated time frame for each project.  The longer a project is estimated to take, the higher the goal is.  I plan to update the status as often as I can.  Once a project has been funded, I will create a post in the forums describing the project as well as when I expect to take time off from work to start it.

Once I start a project, I plan to provide regular updates on the progress so everyone knows what's going on.  The community would also be welcome to ask questions in that post about the project or provide comments.  I hope the projects can be a collaborative process with the community to ensure it is a successful addition and that time wasn't wasted.  To support a project, simply donate how ever much you want to contribute.  How long it takes for a project to be funded will not effect the quality of the work done or the time it takes to complete.  Even if a project takes a year to fully fund, I will still work on that project.

If you would like to suggest more projects for me to tackle and to add as a stretch goal, please post them in the Suggestions forum (https://omnikraft.net/suggestions).

I guess personally I find it silly for goals totally $3,400 for a few items we have had in the past on the servers.

Such as heads in crates which clearly staff has access to already since they are around spawn and what not.

$3,400 for estimated 14 days of work which is about $242  each day of work.

I mean sure those are great goals to have but with our donation goal for the month at 533 after taken out next months payments.

Two of those goals are set to at $400 so haven't we already met one of those goals?

Just putting my two cents out there on this whole deal. Maybe some clarification is needed?

Been looking at the goals as well, and gonna have to join the Devil's Advocate group as well.

While I can understand getting a sort of 'Loot Crate'-style crate with randomized items inside of it, the heads were in the past two maps in the form of XP.

With the current amount of people purchasing the Key Subscriptions/Sponsor rank/etc it seems that most of the monthly goal is reached by that alone with whats left coming from Keys. I know that the overflow goes into the next month/other purchases, but how much has been made in recent months? Can't some of that also go into the goals?

Just our 2 copper pieces.

Most of the explanation is here: https://omnikraft.net/node/10282

The reason for having these is because to do them properly it means I need to dedicate time to do them right.  I don't post my schedule so you don't know how much work is dedicated to the community, but I have about 3-4 hours a night I can work on OmniKraft.  Adding in time to read over updated posts in the forums, read and reply to applications and handle issues that pop-up, handle social media, make adjustments to the site, this leaves little time for adding in larger features such as these.  Right now, it's either I spend time with the above, or I'm not on the servers helping and work on projects over a couple of weeks.  Not everyone thinks about it this way, but maintaining OmniKraft is a nearly a full-time job as I'm running a small business.  There is a ton of behind the scenes work that goes into ensure the community is growing.

By donating for the projects, it reimburses me some for taking time off of work to dedicated a full working day on these items.  This is a way to support me directly to offer larger features to the community.  As for the comment of having these features before, those don't translate to this.  Yes, we have had a Custom Head Shop, but to setup that up in a crate form is extra work.  I can't just copy and paste from a command block to the plugin.  There is more involved in that.

As for the goals, these are separate.from the normal donation stream.  This is because it's supporting me taking time off of work to complete these.  This is the first time I've setup a way to directly support me creating new features for OmniKraft.  As the community gets larger, new features become more complex and take more time to develop and test.  The other reason they are separated is to see what the community wants.  While it's part of growing to try new ideas to see what sticks, it's getting a bit harder (mentually) to invest dozens of hours into creating a few feature and then so few even care.  It's the phrase "put your money where your mouth is".  If the community backs one of these, then I know the time I invest will mean something because there is financial support for it.

The reason I'm using the term Stretch Goals is because it signifies well the concept behind it.  Like with projects people support on IndieGoGo or Kickstarter, this is the main fundraising goal.  That is the donation goal we have now.  That goal is necessary to be hit on a regular basis to keep the servers running.  These projects are the extras.  They aren't needed to keep things running or as they are, but if extra funds come in to support them, then it brings extra features in to enjoy.

I appreciate you being the Devil's advocate, that is why I made the other post.  With the limited replies I received, all of which supported it, I set it up.
